How to Know if Content is Not Safe:
It makes you feel uncomfortable, scared, or sad. Your feelings are important!
Someone asks for your personal information (like your real name, address, or phone number).
It shows mean or hateful words, pictures, or videos. We should always be kind!
It asks you to click on strange links or download things without asking a grown-up.
Someone online asks you to keep a secret from your parents or trusted adults. Always tell!
It shows things that are too grown-up for kids or makes you feel confused.
Important Stats to Know:
Why is this important?
Sometimes, bad people try to trick kids online. Here are some things to be aware of (it's okay to ask a grown-up if you have questions about these):
- Studies show that many kids and teens (over half!) might see content that is too grown-up for them.
- Some kids might get messages from strangers who try to talk to them in a way that feels weird.
- A lot of kids have seen mean comments or bullying online.
- It's super important to know these things so you can stay safe and smart!
Remember: If anything online makes you feel worried or confused, tell a trusted adult right away! They are there to help you.
